I was thinking about when I’d get a chance to post today, and realized, cliché-monster that I am, that there’s no time like the present. Specifically, the part of the morning immediately after my family departs and the house is super-quiet and I drink my tea, surf the net, and generally feel blessed by solitude. Then I started thinking about how different this period of time would be if I had a full-time job to get to (you know, one where I got to be someplace other than my house and got to see people who aren’t chickens, or a dog or cat. You know, humans.) But that’s not my gig, and so I get to have 30 minutes or so of pure quiet nearly every morning, and I absolutely adore it. It’s when I delete the extraneous hundreds of emails from my inbox (just did that!), tidy up the kitchen (that’s waiting for later) and try to remember the things on the day’s plate (still in progress.) It’s time for my sanity, and it’s valuable. Do you get sanity time? I think for many women, it’s hard to find.

Yes, for me it is just after dinner when I get to sit on the sofa and watch TV. The benefits of the youngest being 12
Homework is largely done and he is probably watching TV upstairs or playing on the computer so that he can unwind before bed and I get some quiet time too.

Why is this only an issue for women? Sanity time is hard to come by for all parents!
